The 2021 External Assessment Specifications Advisory Panel (EASAP) met on Friday 29 January and Monday 1 February to discuss recommended amendments to External Assessment Specifications (EAS). Please read the External Assessment Specifications (linked below and on the relevant course page) carefully and contact TASC if you require any further information.

Updates to the external assessment specification documents fall into three categories:

  • External Assessment Specifications Advisory Panel convened – minor changes to the External Assessment Specifications required
  • Template and timing updates required – minor changes to the external Assessment Specifications required
  • Updated template – no changes to External Assessment Specifications

  • ANH315117 Ancient History
    Section B – Criterion 6: Standard element 2 has been removed from the external examination of Criterion 6.
    Section B – core elements: reduced from ‘at least two’ down to ‘one or more’ core elements.
  • BHP315116 Psychology
    IP topic rotation has been updated. Written exam and IP combined in the one document. Appendix III (possible topics) updated. Individual Differences Criterion 1 standard elements amended to 2, 6 and 5.
  • BHS315116 Sociology
    Section B – change of language to provide clarity and specificity to questions.
  • CGD315118 Computer Graphics and Design
    Additional detail included in the EAS to provide clarity and transparency. Addition of a tabularised format outlining structure for folio submission. Additional detail regarding animation formatting and resolution requirements.
    Removal of the proforma document – redundant due to TRACS.
    No change to assessable criteria or course coverage.

  • EAL315120 EALD
    Additional notation instructing students to bring their Negotiated Study to the oral exam. Part 3: Texts – reduction in number of texts/stimuli from four (4) to three (3).
  • ECN315116 Economics
    Additional notation highlighting that Criterion 5 is assessed twice in Section C. Both questions will be individually assessed and contribute to the overall rating candidates receive for Criterion 5.

  • ENG315117 English
    Section C – removal of stimulus stem statement/quotation and additional clarifying statement regarding ‘features’.
  • ENW315117 English Writing
    Additional clarifying information on word counts – what’s in, what’s out. Two additional sample writing folio formats. Clarifying statement for referencing.
  • HDS315118 Housing and Design
    Additional detail included in the EAS to provide clarity and transparency centred on internal spatial analysis, design development and conceptual phase.
    No change to assessable criteria or course coverage.
  • LST315117 Legal Studies
    Section B (Topical Legal Issue) – question structure has been adjusted and number of items reduced. Candidates will respond to one question in an analytical essay format. The essay question will address relevant elements of Australian International law through the lens of a tropical issue.
  • SDD315120 Drama
    Aspects of 2020 External Assessment Specifications, relating to access to live theatre, has been retained for 2021.
    Extraordinary 2021 External Assessment Specifications to be used in 2021.
  • SDI315117 Student Directed Inquiry
    There has been no change to the content in the Student Direct Inquiry External Assessment Specifications for 2021. The specifications have been updated to a new template.
  • SDP15120 Theatre Performance
    Aspects of 2020 Course Considerations retained.
    Use 2021 Course Considerations document in, conjunction with the TASC accredited document, for 2021.
  • SPT315116 Sport Science
    Section A, B and C – removal of reference to ‘Unit 5’
    Section D – change to scenario question in this section of the exam.


Template and timing updates required – minor changes to the External Assessment Specifications required

Part 1 – reduction in number of of spoken texts to four (4) texts with the total maximum listening and writing time of 60 minutes.
