The Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (Fees) Regulations set the costs charged for various TASC services, as well as payments to sessional staff for the setting, critiquing, supervising and marking of external assessments.
Update on Review of the TASC Fee Regulations
The Department for Education, Children and Young People has issued a Communique on the updated TASC Fee Regulations 2025 that will apply from 1 July 2025. The Communique explains what is and isn’t changing in the TASC Fee Regulations.
The changes in the new regulations include the fee for:
- registration/re-registration as an overseas students’ education provider
- providing a statement that compares a qualification issued overseas
- providing a statement of all recognised qualifications, with priority processing to be a 48-hour turn around.
These minor service and fee changes for some TASC services were consulted on during the review of the Regulations in 2024.
The exam staff roles and payments in the updated Regulations remain the same as the previous Regulations and will be indexed as normal from 1 July.
We greatly value the work and expertise of all TASC Sessional staff supporting exams and have taken on board the feedback provided on the roles and payments from last year’s consultation around the Regulations.
DECYP is working with us to develop a new role and payment structure. With the existing regulations expiring on 30 June, more time is needed to incorporate the findings of the external review of TASC exam processes and look at budget options.
We will keep you updated as this work progresses and this page will continue to be updated. Feedback on any aspect can be provided to legislation@decyp.tas.gov.au
Review of the TASC Fee Regulations

In 2024, TASC and DECYP sought feedback in relation to a review of the current TASC Fees Regulations (the Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (Fees) Regulations 2023).
The Regulations set the costs charged for various TASC services as well as the payments to sessional staff for the setting, critiquing, supervising and marking of external assessments.
There were two opportunities to provide feedback:
- Review the Consultation Paper (PDF, 252KB) that provides an overview of fees in the current Regulations and outlines areas for proposed changes. There are general questions for feedback to be sent to edregpolicy@decyp.tas.gov.au by Wednesday 5 June 2024 – NOW CLOSED
- Provide feedback on the Proposed Amendments Consultation Paper (PDF, 373KB) that outlines proposed regulation changes based on the initial feedback from the first-round of consultation and practices in related agencies across Australia. The changes to payments and fees are proposed changes only. Feedback on the points for discussion and general feedback is welcomed to edregpolicy@decyp.tas.gov.au by Wednesday 31 July 2024 – NOW CLOSED
The period of consultation was to meet the legislative drafting timelines prescribed. We actively consulted with a wide range of stakeholders, from our Principal Reference Group through to previous sessional staff.
Please be aware that while TASC can make a representation about changing the Regulations, decisions on the Regulations are made outside of TASC.
