First Nations Studies, Level 3 enables learners to understand and appreciate the culture and history of Australian and other First Nations from an internationally comparative perspective

By engaging with this course learners will develop an understanding of the basis of First Nations identity, culture, ways of knowing and being, relationships and historical narratives as well as the causes and consequences of First Nations interactions with non-Aboriginal peoples, and the challenges and opportunities which such interaction led to. As a part of this course learners will further develop an awareness of the assertion of First Nations’ rights and interrelationships globally. They will undertake a major self-directed inquiry comparing the experience of Tasmanian First Nations and another two First Nations studied in the course.
