DECYP has submitted the Stage 1 courses to TASC. The formal review and feedback process is now underway.
All Stage 1 courses will be completed for re-accreditation in this cycle, ready for teaching in 2027. Before accreditation decisions are made, teachers will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed course changes.
Stage 2
With Stage 2, the courses that will continue to be progressed for teaching in 2027 are:
- Ancient History (AHN315117)
- Geography (GGY315120)
- Music Studies (MSS215120)
- Working with Children (BHC215116)
- all Preliminary courses, which now also form a part of the curriculum audit recommendations.
The remaining Stage 2 courses will continue to be developed but will not be resolved for 2027 teaching. This approach reflects the need to:
- respond to DECYP’s curriculum audit of senior secondary courses
- align with TASC’s fit for purpose assessment work and external assessment review
- consider proposed amendments across related courses and course suites to maintain coherence where implications have been identified
- ensure both organisations have the workforce capacity required to fully resolve and implement changes to the expected standard.
All course feedback received this year will be retained and used to inform future course development. This staged sequencing is designed to support quality, consistency and sustainable implementation of our senior secondary curriculum.
