As per the Provider Registration Policy, all schools and other education providers that intend to deliver TASC-accredited courses, and who require TASC to issue formal qualifications to students must register with TASC each year.

  • For providers who have delivered TASC-accredited courses in the previous calendar year, please follow the annual school registration process outlined in Step 1 below.
  • For providers who have senior secondary students enrolled in their school, but the students are studying a TASC-accredited course at another provider school, it is strongly recommended that you register with TASC. Please contact enquiries@tasc.tas.gov.au for more information.
  • For providers who are planning to register with TASC for the first time: 

The steps in the annual registration process are outlined below:

Only a school principal/principal’s delegate is able to register their school.

    • DECYP schools must first complete an additional step via MyLogin prior to being able to finalise their TASC school registration. This is the only way that DECYP schools can allocate the appropriate access to specific staff (principal, assistant principals and TLOs) and have the roles ‘stick / be retained’ in TRACS. For help, see DECYP’s MyLogin Identity Management – Advice and Guidance – Service and Help Centre and scroll down to the ‘Staff Management’ tab and then to the ‘Approving Application or Role Access’ tab.

NOTE: To meet TASC requirements, schools must agree to have their own policies and procedures to ensure they comply with the TASC Standards for Providers. These Standards set clear and measurable requirements for all Tasmanian schools and other providers who are registered to deliver and assess TASC-accredited senior secondary courses. What is the TASC School Scope?

The TASC School Scope is a list of ALL the TASC-accredited courses that are being delivered and assessed at the school in the current year of registration. This includes:

  • Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 courses
  • TASC-accredited ‘other education’ courses, including Preliminary courses
  • Each individual course that has been ‘packaged’/’bundled’ into a set by a school.

What is not included in the TASC School Scope?

The following courses are not included:

  • Vocational Education and Training (VET) units or qualifications (these are reported directly to TASC each quarter by individual Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) who deliver training to Tasmanian clients)
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma courses (although the students are listed on the student enrolment form)
  • University Connections Program (UCP) and High Achiever Program (HAP) courses (these are reported directly to TASC by the University of Tasmania)
  • NIAL courses (schools apply on behalf of their students using the Nationally & Interstate Assessed Languages (NIAL) Administration ‘Task Type’ in TRACS).

Who submits the TASC School Scope?

  • Only a school principal/principal’s delegate or the TLO is able to submit the School Scope within the TRACS portal.
  • The How to submit the TASC School Scope guide is available on the TRACS help portal.

Pre-Year 11 access to TASC-accredited courses:  TASC-accredited courses are designed for study by learners after the completion of Year 10. However, TASC will consider requests to deliver courses to pre-Year 11 students in some circumstances – see Pre-Year 11 enrolments in TASC-accredited courses.

Each year in February, non-DECYP schools (Catholic and Independent schools) are asked to provide staff, class and student information to TASC using templates which are supplied directly to schools.

Where possible, these templates are pre-filled by TASC to include staff, class and student data from the previous year (excluding Year 12 students from the previous year).

Staff

Schools provide information about ALL senior secondary staff in the school who are expected to interact with TASC. This includes senior secondary teachers, the principal and assistant principal/s, TLO/s, and other administrative staff that may need to access TRACS. All teaching staff must have a valid TRB ID.

Classes

Schools provide class information for the TASC-accredited courses they are delivering. Each class should be associated with a teacher, which allows them to enter internal ratings and upload folios (if relevant) for students in the class.

Note: Class data is not required for:

  • Recognised formal learning, including:
    • International Baccalaureate Diploma
    • Big Picture Learning Credential
    • University Connections Program (UCP) and High Achiever Program (HAP) courses
  • Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications and units
  • Nationally or Interstate Assessed Language Courses (NIAL).

Participation and results for these types of learning are managed between TASC and applicable providers – i.e. RTOs, UTAS, etc.

Students

Schools provide student details such as personal information, year level and mailing address to enable TASC to allocate TASC IDs and manage student assessment and results data. Details that schools need to provide include:

  • All Year 11, 12 and 13 students enrolled at the school, regardless of their intended learning activity
  • Pre-Year 11 students that have TASC approval to access TASC-accredited courses
  • Students from other schools doing TASC-accredited courses at your school
  • The TASC-accredited course classes that each student is enrolled in (at your school only).

Note:

  • Additional changes to student personal details, addresses and school/class enrolments can be made directly in TRACS following the initial load of data.
  • Where two (or more) schools have enrolled a student, TASC will assign a ‘home school’ which should reflect where the student is enrolled for Home Group/Pastoral Care. The ‘home group’ field on the spreadsheet should always have a value for these students.

DECYP school student course enrolment data is maintained in EduPoint. It is generally updated overnight, and any changes should appear in TRACS the following business day.

A Student Declaration Form must be completed by all senior secondary students who commence studying one or more TASC-accredited courses at Level 2, 3 or 4*. Usually, it will be in Year 11, but might be in Year 12 or 13 (or in Year 10 if a student is enrolled in a pre-Year 11 TASC-accredited course).

From 2026, students only need to complete the Declaration once during their senior secondary studies (previously it was done annually).

The form confirms that students understand all relevant TASC requirements, their eligibility and responsibilities, and how their assessment and results information is used. The form also includes students’ providing their personal email address so TASC can provide them with their results via email at the end of the school year.

Schools must keep their course delivery records accurate and up to date throughout the year:

  • DECYP school student course enrolment data is maintained via EduPoint.
  • Non-DECYP school course student enrolment data is maintained via TRACS.
Updating course delivery records:

Information about how to adjust course delivery records for non-DECYP schools is outlined below:

  • What to do when a student withdraws from a non-DECYP school:
    • The school removes the student’s enrolment in their school’s student management system
    • The school removes the student’s enrolment in TRACS.
  • What to do when a student arrives at a non-DECYP school partway through the year:
    • The school adds the student directly to TRACS, including their mailing address and class enrolment/s.
  • What to do when a student at a non-DECYP school changes their name:
    • The school verifies the name change using their formal processes for a change of name and then updates the existing student record in TRACS. Please contact TASC via results@tasc.tas.gov.au to assist us to manage any flow on implications of the name change (e.g. for exam centres and other assessment and resulting processes and documents).
Changes after course movement closure:

After course changes have closed for the year (normally September), a TRACS task should be raised requesting approval for any changes. See Course Movements for more information.

Each year TASC collects a fee from schools for each full-fee paying international student (on a 500 Visa) who is enrolled in one or more TASC-accredited courses.
